Tesla Gives Mixed Quarterly Results

Tesla Gives Mixed Quarterly Results. Tesla Motors' (TSLA) reported that the electric car company’s losses narrowed to $16.3M in Q4 from $89.9M a year earlier. Revenue at the company rose 101% to $615.29M, but missed Wall Street estimates. Adjusted EPS came in at $0.33 beating estimates by $0.12. Tesla also gave an optimistic outlook for production and deliveries, especially overseas and China. Pre-market: 216.20 +22.56 (11.65%)

World Markets Up on China, the Fed and U.S. Budget Deal

World Markets Up on China, the Fed and U.S. Budget Deal. World markets are higher this morning boosted by better than expected trade data from China.  China's exports rose +10.6% in January well beyond economists estimates of only a +2% increase. Fed Chairman Jenet Yellen in testimony yesterday said that the Fed would continue with its easy money policy easing fears that the Fed would start tightening amid recent poor economic reports. Additionally, the Republican led House has agreed to suspend the U.S. debt ceiling borrowing authority until March 16, 2015.

Xbox One Enjoys Strong Sales. The release of Microsoft’s highly anticipated Xbox One on Friday enjoyed strong sales. Microsoft sold over 1 million Xbox One gaming systems within the first 24 hours. A week ago Sony (SNE) released their new PS4 gaming system to similar fanfare. Analysts estimate that each company will sell over 3 million units by the end of the year. Twitter Begins Trading.

Twitter Begins Trading. Shares of Twitter (TWTR) will begin trading this morning on the NYSE after being priced last night at $26.00. The price was above the already increased $23-$25 range. Twitter raised $1.82B by selling 70M shares and it will have a market cap of $14.2B. CEO Dick Costolo said "There's nothing structural about Twitter that prevents us from having the kind of margin profiles of our peer group." Currently Twitter generates no profits.

Cisco Shares Get Hit. 
Shares of tech giant Cisco System (CSCO) are getting hit hard in the pre-market after the company provided FQ1 guidance that disappointed Wall Street analysts.  The company also said it was cutting 4,000 jobs to cope with a "challenging" global environment. Cisco expects FQ1 revenue growth of 3-5% and EPS of $0.50-0.51 vs consensus of 4.9% and $0.51 respectively. The company did report FQ4 earnings $0.52 and sales increasing +6% to $12.42B beating Wall Street estimates. Profits at the company increased to $2.27B from $1.92B last year. Pre-market: 24.40 -1.98 (-7.50%)
