Xbox One Enjoys Strong Sales. The release of Microsoft’s highly anticipated Xbox One on Friday enjoyed strong sales. Microsoft sold over 1 million Xbox One gaming systems within the first 24 hours. A week ago Sony (SNE) released their new PS4 gaming system to similar fanfare. Analysts estimate that each company will sell over 3 million units by the end of the year. Sony’s PlayStation 4 Goes On Sale. Sony’s (SNE) PS4 went on sale Friday night and within 24 hours the company sold over 1 million video-gaming consoles.  The company needs to hit a home run with the PS4 to help the company the turn around its consumer-electronics division. Berkshire Hathaway Buys Exxon Mobil. Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A / BRK.B) has bought 40.1 million shares of Exxon Mobil (XOM). The purchase makes Warren Buffett’s company the 6th largest shareholder of Exxon. During the third quarter he also added to his position in the Bank of New York Mellon (BK), DaVita HealthCare Partners (DVA), Suncor Energy (SU), U.S. Bancorp (USB) and VeriSign (VRSN). During the quarter he also lowered his holdings in ConocoPhillips (COP), DirecTV (DTV), GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and Sanofi (SNY). Pre-market: 115.60 -0.09 (-0.08%)

Overseas Growth Slows. Overseas economic growth has unexpectedly slowed. Economic growth slowed in Japan during Q3. Capex growth rose just +0.2% for Q3, far below consensus estimates. Economic growth in the eurozone came in at just +0.1% for Q3 also missing economists estimates.  Germany’s economy expanded by 0.3% in Q3, which was in-line with economists’ estimates but must slower than the +0.7% growth posted in Q2. France’s economy turned negative as their economy contracted -0.1% in Q3. Finance Minister Pierre Moscovici said France should still report a modest expansion for the full year.

Macy’s Beats Wall Street’s Estimates.

Macy’s Beats Wall Street’s Estimates. Shares retailer Macy's (M) are higher in the pre-market after the company posted Q3 profits that beat Wall Street expectations and made positive comments about the upcoming holiday shopping season. The company reported EPS $0.47, up 31% from a year ago. Analysts' consensus estimate was only $0.39. Macy's has posted 15 straight quarters of improved earnings. Revenue came in at $6.28 billion, up 3.3% also beating estimates. Sales were up 3.5%.
