The IEA Says U.S. Will Become Worlds Top Oil Producer. The IEA in its annual World Energy Outlook said that the U.S. will become the world’s largest oil producer by 2017 surpassing both Saudi Arabia and Russia. They also estimate that the U.S. will become energy self-sufficient by 2030.  The big boost in production is expected to come from oil shale.
