Alcoa to Kickoff Q4 Earnings Season Today. Alcoa (AA) will kickoff the Q4 earnings season today after the market close. Wall Street always watches very closely as since some believe that the company can give indications of how other industrial companies performed.  The first few days and weeks of earning season can be volatile as Wall Street interprets earning results.  Alcoa is expected to report Q4 EPS of $0.06 on a decline of revenue of 8.8% to %5.38 billion.

Microsoft Share Jump On Earnings. Microsoft (MSFT) reported that their FQ1 net profit climbed +16% to $5.2B.  EPS were reported at $0.62 beating Wall Street estimates by $0.08. Revenues at the company also rose +16% to $18.53B. Microsoft's performance was boosted by strong corporate sales of its Office and server software.  Earlier this week Apple (APPL) announced that they would begin offering their latest operating system Maverick for free along with iWork which is their version of Office. Netflix reported EPS of $0.52, with net profit quadrupling to $32M. Revenue also came in at a strong $1.1 billion, up 22%.  The video service added 1.29M subscribers in the U.S. to give it 31.09M customers vs. the 30M that was expected. Wall Street traders will be waiting for Apple (AAPL) to report their latest earnings after the close today. The company’s shares are well off their all time highs as many see the company’s sales hurting due to the increasing popularity of android based phones and tablets.  Wall Street analysts are expecting that the company will report EPS of $7.28 down from year ago earnings of $9.32.
