CLOSING BELL



Dow 10627.26  -36.73, Nasdaq 2282.31  -30.10, S&P 1136.22   -10.76 

Blame today on Alcoa (AA) 15.53 -1.92, -11.00%, after the company missed their earnings estimate many on Wall Street are questioning the recovery and other bellwether company earnings reports. This was the markets first loss for 2010.

Diversified financial services stocks -2.9% and diversified bank shares -1.8% fell today on news that the government wants to impose fees on banks to help recoup TARP funds and reduce the deficit.

Commodities also got hit today.  The CRB Commodity Index dropped -1.7%, which was its worst single session percentage loss in more than one month.

The results from Alcoa (AA) and commodities didn’t help the diversified metals group today which was down -3.8%. The materials sector was down -1.9% today

Leading groups today were: Full Line Insurance +1.24%, Soft Drinks +1.06%

Lagging Groups: Aluninum -10.86, Platinum & Precious Metals- 6.93%
