MIDDAY LUNCH

Dow 10181.67  -11.72, Nasdaq  2243.17  +14.13, S&P 1088.97  +1.28 

The NASDAQ is leading the way today with the help of large cap tech stocks.  Apple (AAPL) 250.04 +7.81, +3.27%, Dell (DELL) 13.63 +0.28, +2.10%, Oracle (ORCL) 22.63 +0.48, +2.13% and Google (GOOG) 488.57 +16.60, +3.53% are all trading higher.

The markets have worked their way from the opening lows.  The markets started trading in the red on news that Spain's central bank took over regional savings bank CajaSur reminding traders that the problems in Europe still exist.

Italy announced today that they would also implement austerity measures in an attempt to control the country’s debt.  Out of the PIIGS countries (Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece and Spain) only Ireland has not announced austerity plans.

 

DreamWorks Animation SKG (DWA) 31.37 -3.49, -9.98% is getting hammered today after the release of the latest Shrek movie didn’t meet box-office expectations over the weekend.
