CLOSING BELL

Dow 11019.42  +13.45, Nasdaq 2465.99  +8.12, S&P 1197.30  +0.82 

The market was trading to the downside until the afternoon when a weaker dollar and interest in tech stocks before Intel’s (INTC) 22.76 +0.23, +1.02% release of their latest earnings report after the market close.

After the Close Intel reported earnings of +$0.43 per share beating Wall Street’s estimates of +$0.38.  Revenues also beat estimates coming in at $10.3 billion.  In after hours trading Intel (INTC) was trading at $23.60 +0.2309, +3.65%.

In the morning stock were lower after Alcoa (AA) 14.34 -0.23, -1.58% reported earnings in-line with street estimates on +$0.10.  But traders questioned the earnings quality due to smaller-than-expected revenue.

Regional banks were hit hard today trading down - 2.0%, after UBS downgraded to Sell shares of Huntington Banc (HBAN) 5.69 -0.34, -5.64%, KeyCorp (KEY) 8.14 -0.20, -2.40% and Regions Financial (RF) 8.34 -0.40, -4.58% . 

Shares of ITT Educational Services (ESI) 119.20 +10.42, +9.58% and DeVry (DV) 71.73 +6.67, +10.25% were higher today after Credit Suisse upgraded both companies from Neutral to Outperform.

Declining Sectors: Energy -0.5%, Utilities -0.4%, Materials -0.3%, Telecom -0.2%
Unchanged: Health Care, Financials, Consumer Staples
