MIDDAY LUNCH

Dow 10143.04  +4.05, Nasdaq 2181.60  +6.20, S&P 1072.36  +2.11 

Stocks have drifted from positive, to negative to back to positive again.  No real market moving news has occurred to give either the bulls or the bears an upper hand and trading volume has been light. 

The light trading today may be due to it being a Friday and on Monday the Q2 earning season will kick off with Alcoa (AA) 10.81 +0.09, +0.84% reporting their earnings after the closing bell.

Basic material stocks are currently leading the market, up +1.9% led by United States Steel (X) 42.67 +1.58, +3.85%, Newmont Mining (NEM) 62.20 +1.86, +3.08%.

Google (GOOG) 465.08 +8.52, +1.91% shares are higher today after it was announced the China renewed the company’s license to operate in the country. Additionally, Kaufman Bros put a Buy rating on the company and set a target price of $640.00.
